Metal Spiral Inscriptions IV: Alpha and Omega

“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”

“The city has no need of sun or moon… for the glory of God gives it light.”

—Book of Revelation

Title: Metal Spiral Inscriptions IV: Alpha and Omega
Year: 2016
Material: Brass, Copper, Red Glass
Dimensions: 1000 × 1200 × 1000 mm

The fourth work in the series develops the bidirectional helical inscription system into a fully articulated three-dimensional spatial structure in the form of a contemporary chandelier.

Each bidirectional helical element functions as a written character, while red glass elements operate as punctuation marks. Together, they form a continuous spatial sentence that extends inscription into an architectural structure, where inscription, structure, movement, and perception become inseparable within a second-order bidirectional helix.

Suspended light sources mark both the beginning and the end of this inscription, giving spatial form to the figure of the Alpha and the Omega as described in the Book of Revelation. Light operates not only as illumination but as the condition through which the sentence becomes readable, collapsing origin and termination into a single continuous cycle.

Within this logic, the chandelier is reconfigured as a spatial apparatus of prayer, where writing, reading, punctuation, and illumination converge within a continuous circular movement.
